Zayed Hasan, the infant son of a mother who died in a road accident in Mymensingh's Bhaluka, has been adopted by a couple. The District Child Welfare Board oversaw the adoption, which was completed on Monday night (May 20) in accordance with all necessary procedures and regulations. Although the High Court had directed the handover, there was a slight delay in the process.

Robin Mia, the child's maternal uncle, initially expressed interest in taking the responsibility but ultimately left the responsibility to the District Child Welfare Board due to the family's financial difficulties. The Board then invited applications from couples interested in fostering the child. After receiving 10 applications and carefully reviewing them, the Board selected the most qualified couple for adoption.

Robin Mia said, "Raising him along with my three children is very difficult for me. That's why I decided to place him for adoption, thinking about my nephew's future. I hope he will join a good family, lead a better life, and grow up with a good education."

Abdul Kaium, Member Secretary of the Child Welfare Board and Deputy Director of the Social Services Department in Mymensingh, stated, "The child's uncle, Robin Mia, submitted a no-objection letter to the board regarding the adoption, citing his inability to care for the child. After verification at the Child Welfare Board meeting at the District Commissioner's office on Sunday, the child was handed over to a childless, affluent family."

He refrained from disclosing any details about the family, considering the child's future.

Notably, the child and his mother were involved in a road accident in the Square Master Bari area on the night of May 10. However, the cause of the accident remains unknown. Subsequently, a woman and three men found the child and his mother injured and rescued them. They were then taken to Baluka Health Complex, from where the attending doctor transferred them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Zayeda Khatun, the mother, passed away the following evening while receiving treatment.

However, the injured child received treatment under the collective supervision of hospital authorities, the social services department, and the police administration. He sustained head and body injuries in the road accident. Eventually, he recovered and was adopted by a couple in the presence of relatives.
