Intercity train services resume across Bangladesh
After a lengthy 27-day pause, intercity trains resumed operations across the country on Thursday, August 15, with trains departing from various stations according to schedule. Additionally, since August 13, goods-carrying trains, along with local and commuter passenger trains, have also begun running.
On August 11, Bangladesh Railways announced in a circular that freight trains would resume service starting August 12, followed by local and commuter trains on August 13, and intercity trains on August 15. Tickets for intercity trains will be available for collection from August 12 at 5:00 pm onwards.
Train services have been halted across the country since July 19. However, from July 25, trains carrying oil and essential goods have been operating under special arrangements. Despite this, Bangladesh Railways announced a complete suspension of train movement nationwide starting August 3, which also led to the cancellation of local and commuter trains.
