The investigation into the case filed on charges of crimes against humanity in the killing and burning of six bodies in Ashulia, Dhaka, during the anti-discrimination movement has been completed, said Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam of the International Crimes Tribunal.

He told reporters at the Chief Prosecutor's Office of the International Crimes Tribunal on Sunday afternoon.

Tajul Islam said that the investigation into the July-August genocide case in which six bodies were burned in Ashulia has been completed. This is the first time that an investigation has been completed in any case.

Earlier, the tribunal issued arrest warrants on December 24 against former MP Saiful Islam and four police officers for burning the bodies of six people in Ashulia during the anti-discrimination movement on August 5.

Following the prosecution's application, the three-member International Crimes Tribunal, headed by the tribunal's chairman, Justice Golam Mortuza Majumder, issued the warrant. The next hearing on the matter was also set for January 26.

Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam heard the case on behalf of the prosecution. After the hearing, Tajul Islam said that six students were shot dead on August 5 and their bodies were burned in a planned manner. An arrest warrant was sought against the then Savar-Ashulia MP Saiful Islam after his involvement was found. In addition, arrest warrants were issued against four police officers, but he did not disclose their names.
