Investigation into assets of police officials underway: IGP
Bangladesh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun has said that the investigation into the assets of the police officers is ongoing.
“There is no opportunity to acquire wealth illegally. Investigation into the assets of the police officials is underway. Action will be taken against those who have amassed illegal assets, “ he said while addressing a programme at Khulna Metropolitan Police lines on Wednesday (June 26).
Commenting on Pori Moni issue, the IGP said, “Bangladesh Police follows zero tolerance policy against any unethical activities. Saqlain has been compulsorily retired after the allegations raised against him was found to be true.”
About the recent tension between the police and the journalists, "Journalists have taken part in a meeting with the Police Service Association, I hope the matter will be resolved through discussion."
The IGP said, “Bangladesh Police has been performing its duties for more than 100 years. We have been working to ensure the safety of the people of the country. Once upon a time Khulna was a town of terror. The Prime Minister has adopted a policy of zero tolerance against terrorism and militancy. In the light of that policy, we are fulfilling our responsibilities. A multipronged approach has been adopted to control terrorism and militancy.”
