Irrigation to run from 12:00pm to 6:00am

The government has fixed the operating hours of irrigation pumps. Irrigation pumps can be run for a total of 6 hours every day from 12:00pm to 6:00am AM.

This time was fixed in a meeting on the electricity and energy supply situation during summer, irrigation and Ramadan at the capital's Bidyut Bhaban today (March 13).

Earlier, irrigation used to run for 8 hours from 11:00pm to 7:00am.

In the meeting, Minister of State for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said that economical use of fuel during the current summer, irrigation season and holy Ramadan will give relief to everyone. Gas supply is increasing for power generation. The situation will gradually improve.

He said uninterrupted electricity-gas supply is our main goal. At that time it was decided that the CNG stations would be closed from 4:00pm to 10:00pm. On the occasion of Eid, CNG stations will be open 24 hours from April 7 to 18.

The meeting was attended by senior secretary of power division Md Habibur Rahman, energy and mineral resources secretary Md Nurul Alam, chairman of Petrobangla Janendranath Sarkar and PDB chairman Md Mahabubur Rahman.
