ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das detained

ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari has been arrested from the airport area in the capital Dhaka. Bangladesh Police’s Special Intelligence Detective Branch (DB) arrested the ISKCON leader on Monday (November 25) afternoon.

It is learned that ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari arrived at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) to go to Chattogram from Dhaka. He was arrested from there.

After last August 5, several rallies were held in the name of the Sanatana religious in the country. From that gathering, ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari gave various threatening speeches to the incumbent government.

Even though he had been in discussion before this, Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari came to discuss more from the rally in the afternoon of October 25 at the Laldighi field in Chattogram city to realize the 8-point demand.

The rally was held in the name of Bangladesh Sanatan Jagoran Mancha. In the rally, Chinmoy Krishna Das made various allegations including attacks on the Hindu monasteries and temples in Bangladesh, looting, and arson. However, he is accused of destroying communal harmony in the country. He gave provocative statements at various times.

Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari is one of the founders of the discussed Hindu organization ISKCON. He is also serving as the spokesperson of Sanatan Jagoran Mancha. He is known as “Chinmoy Prabhu” to Sanatan religious people. Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari is the spokesperson of Bangladesh Sanatan Jagoran Mancha and Principal of Pundarik Dham.

Mentioned that on October 30, a case was filed against 19 people including Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, the organizer of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISCON), a traditional religious organization. The case was filed under the Sedition Act on the charge of insulting the national flag. Law enforcement forces arrested two people in this incident. They are – Rajesh Chowdhury and Hridoy Das.

A person named Md Feroz Khan of North Mohra area under Chandgaon police station filed the case at CMP’s Kotwali police station around 11:30 pm on October 30.

Other accused in the case are – Ajay Dutt, 34, Leela Raj Das Brahmachari, 48, Gopal Das Tipu, 38, Dr. Kathak Das, 40, Engineer Amit Dhar, 38, Roni Das, 38, Rajeev Das, 32, Krishna Kumar Dutta, 52, Jiku Chowdhury, 40, Newton de Bobby, 38, Tushar Chakraborty Rajeev, 28, Mithun Dey, 35, Rupan Dhar, 35, Rimon Dutt, 28, Sukanta Dash, 28, Biswajit Gupta, 42, Rajesh Chowdhury, 28, and Hridoy Das, 25.

In the same case, 15 to 20 other unidentified people have been accused.

It is alleged in the case that after the mass uprising on August 5, the anti-discrimination students hoisted a national flag at the New Market intersection. On the day of the Laldighi rally on October 25, the ocher-colored religious flag of the sectarian religious group ISKCON was hoisted and placed above that flag, which is a denial of the integrity of the state.

It is also stated in the statement that by hoisting religious flags over the national flag, the accused are engaged in the treasonous act of making the country ineffective by creating an anarchic situation in the country.

The case was filed under sections 120(b), 124(a), 153(a), 109 and 34 of the Penal Code.
