IU student, her husband die in boat capsize

A couple has died as a boat capsized in the Padma River in Sujanagar of Pabna.

The deceased are--Masuda Mahjabin Mou, a student of the Biomedical Engineering Department of Islamic University, and her husband Hriday Hossain.

Mou was the daughter of businessman Manikuzzaman Manik from Bongram Bazar in Sathia Upazila, Pabna, while her husband was the son of Dulal Pramanik from Kolchari village in Pabna Sadar Upazila, said Md. Khairul Islam, the Head of the Biomedical Engineering Department.

According to sources, the couple, Mou and Hriday, went for a visit near the Satbariya Ghat area of the upazila, where their boat capsized, and they went missing on Friday. After nearly 16 hours of being missing, their bodies were recovered from the Padma River by the river police and a diving team at around 11 AM on Saturday.

The Head of the Biomedical Engineering Department, Md. Khairul Islam, said: "We have learned about the tragic incident where our student, along with her husband, lost their lives in a boat capsizing in the river. The bodies have been recovered by the river police and a diving team. On behalf of the department, we express our deepest condolences to the grieving family."
