Jaker Ali Anik stood out in the second innings of the Kingston Test, playing a crucial role in Bangladesh's remarkable 101-run victory over the West Indies after 15 years. His brilliant 91-run knock was instrumental in setting a challenging target of 287 runs for the hosts.
In only his third Test, Jaker displayed remarkable composure, taking on the Caribbean pacers with authority. Given the match situation, he played a fearless innings, showcasing intelligence, resilience, and maturity.
Although Jaker missed out on a century, he is delighted with his team’s victory. The 26-year-old wicketkeeper-batter shared a heartfelt memory on his official Facebook page, reflecting on his journey from a young cricket fan to representing the national team, dedicating this achievement to his late father.
On his Facebook account, Jaker wrote, "I was 11 back then and didn’t miss a single match of the 2009 series. I would stay up all night watching Bangladesh play. Early in the morning, my father would find me still glued to the game. He would look at me in surprise but never scolded me. Now, 15 years later, I am playing for Bangladesh in the same series. If my father were alive, he would probably have stayed up all night watching me play. This one’s for you, Abba."
