Jashore farm fire kills 50,000 chicken worth Tk20 crore

A terrible fire has broken out at a shed of Afil Layer Farm in Ghoragachi area of ​​Rupdia of the Sadar upazila, killing 50,000 chickens and other machineries.

The fire broke out on Friday (April 18) afternoon. The company claims that the fire caused a loss of Tk20 crore.

Afil Group Director Mahbub Alam Lablu said that they have Afil Layer Farm on 100 bighas of land in the Ghoragachi area of ​​Sadar Upazila. One of the 17 sheds there caught fire suddenly at 1:30 pm on Friday. "We immediately informed the fire service and five of their units arrived at the scene. After about two hours of effort, the fire was brought under control. There were 50,000 chickens in that shed. All the chickens died and other machineries in the shed were burnt.

He said: "The damage will be Tk20 crore. All our sheds are controlled by automatic machines. All the machines, including the heat control machine, were destroyed in the fire."

Mamunur Rashid, assistant director of Jashore Fire Service Station, said that after receiving the news of a fire in a shed of Afil Layer Farm in Rupdia, our five units rushed to the scene and started extinguishing the fire. The fire was brought under control after two hours of effort. Initially, it is believed that the fire may have started due to an electrical short circuit.

According to Afil Layer Farm sources, they have 700,000 chickens in 17 sheds. Some 400,000 eggs are produced from this farm every day.
