A Jubo League leader has been hacked to death in the Sadar upazila's Chunamonkati union. Deceased Shimul Hossain was the general secretary of Ward no 8 unit Jubo League. Jashore Kotwali Model Police Station OC Abdur Razzaq confirmed the death. He said miscreants attacked Shimul with local weapons at 8:30pm on Thursday when he was returning home from Gobila Bazar, leaving him severely injured. He was rushed to Jessore General Hospital where doctors declared him dead. Police said Shimul might have been killed over previous enmity.

যশোর সদর&nbsp;উপজেলায় পূর্ববিরোধের জের ধরে ওয়ার্ড যুবলীগের এক নেতাকে কুপিয়ে হত্যা করেছে দুর্বৃত্তরা। বৃহস্পতিবার (২১ মার্চ) রাত সাড়ে ৮টার দিকে উপজেলার চুড়ামনকাটি ইউনিয়নের গোবিলা গ্রামে এ ঘটনা ঘটে। নিহত শিমুল হোসেন (৪০) গোবিলা গ্রামের মোকলেছুর রহমানের ছেলে। পুলিশ জানিয়েছে, শিমুল হোসেন গোবিলা বাজার থেকে পায়ে হেঁটে বাড়ি ফিরছিল। এক পর্যায়ে বাজার ও বাড়ির মাঝামাঝি কাঁচা রাস্তায় পৌঁছেলে পূর্ব থেকে ওত পেতে থাকা দুর্বৃত্তরা তাকে কুপিয়ে গুরুতর আহত করে ফেলে রেখে যায। স্থানীয়রা টের পেয়ে দ্রুত তাকে উদ্ধার করে যশোর ২৫০শয্যা জেনারেল হাসপাতালে নিয়ে আসলে কর্তব্যরত চিকিৎসক তাকে মৃত ঘোষণা করেন । হাসপাতালের আরএমও পার্থপ্রতিম চক্রবর্তী জানান, নিহত শিমুলের দুই পায়ের রগ কেটে দিয়েছে দুর্বৃত্তরা। এছাড়া তার মাথা ও পায়ে ধারালো অস্ত্রের একাধিক আঘাতের চিহ্ন আছে। যশোর কোতোয়ালি মডেল থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা ওসি আব্দুর রাজ্জাক জানিয়েছেন, পূর্ব কোন শত্রুতার কারণে হত্যাকাণ্ডটি ঘটে থাকতে পারে। নিহতের বিরুদ্ধে কোতোয়ালি থানায় একাধিক মামলা রয়েছে।
