JnU authority orders to arrest classmate for Abantika's suicide
Fairuz Abantika, a student of the 2017-18 academic year of Jagannath University (JnU) Law Department, committed suicide by hanging herself after posting on Facebook on Friday night.
The university authorities have ordered the temporary expulsion and speedy arrest of the accused classmate in this incident.
This information was revealed in a press release sent to the media early Saturday. It also said that the university teacher who was accused of assisting in the incident has been dismissed from the proctorial body.
University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr Sadeka Halim assured a speedy trial after proper investigation of the suicide incident. She assured that the accused teacher Deen Islam and accused student Amman Siddique will be brought under the law and brought to justice.
The university administration has formed a four-member investigation committee for proper investigation of the incident. Dean of Law Faculty Professor Dr. Masum Billah is the convener of the committee, Law Officer Ranjan Kumar Das is the member secretary.
Fairuz Abantika accused a classmate of the university of sexual harassment in a Facebook post on Friday. In the Facebook post, Abantika mentioned that her classmate Amman Siddique of her same department and assistant proctor Deen Islam would be responsible for her suicide.
