JnU Proctor Deen Islam released on bail
Jagannath University (JnU) Assistant Proctor Deen Islam, who was arrested in connection with student Abantika's suicide, walked out of jail on bail.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Cumilla Kotwali Police Station Md Feroz Hossain confirmed the news.
He said that Deen Islam walked out of Cumilla jail on Wednesday afternoon.
Family members of Deen Islam received him at the jail gate after his release, he added.
Earlier on March 16, Police have picked up Fairuz Abontika's classmate Amman Siddique and Assistant Proctor Deen Islam in connection with her death.
Abontika's mother Tahmina Shabnam filed an abetment of suicide case against Deen Islam and Amman at Kotwali Model Police Station in Cumilla on March 15.
Fairuz Abontika, a student of the 2017-18 academic year of JnU Law Department, hanged herself at her Cumilla residence on March 14 after accusing her classmate Amman and the assistant proctor of harassment on a Facebook post.
Another accused in the case, Abantika’s classmate Amman Siddiqui, is still behind the bar.
