Journalist brutally hacked by miscreants in Kuakata
A journalist named Zahirul Islam Miron was brutally attacked by miscreants in Kuakata, Patuakhali.
The incident occurred around 12:30am on Wednesday (February 5) in front of his house near the Tulatoli filling station in Kuakata.
Zahirul, former general secretary of the Kuakata Press Club, Banglavision correspondent, and general secretary of the Kuakata Municipal Jubo Dal, was severely injured in the attack. Locals took him to Kalapara Hospital for initial treatment, but doctors referred him to Barishal due to his critical condition.
His mother recounted the horror, saying, "We heard screams and rushed outside to find Zahirul lying face down. We immediately took him to the hospital. We demand justice for the brutal assault on my son."
Md. Rabiul Islam, Kalapara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), said, "Zahirul was in critical condition and had sustained injuries to his hands, head, and chest."
Md. Tariqul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mahipur Police Station, said, "Zahirul had just returned from Dhaka and was attacked by assailants as he stepped out of his car in front of his home around 12:30am. Due to the late hour, neither the locals nor his family members were aware of the attack at the time."
"We have collected CCTV footage from the area as part of the investigation. While the attackers are not yet identified, authorities are hopeful they will be caught soon," he added.
