JU coordinator of anti-discrimination student movement released from duty
Ahsan Labib, one of the coordinators of Jahangirnagar University's 'anti-discrimination student movement', has been dismissed from his post.
This action was taken against him as he was accused of participating in the violence in the university, says a press release sent by the coordinators of Jahangirnagar University anti-discrimination student movement on Thursday (September 19).
The release said at the decision to dismiss Ahsan Labib from the post of coordinator will remain in force until the investigation into the death of the former Chhatra League leader through lynching, is completed.
The anti-discrimination student movement has called for exemplary punishment if he is found guilty in the investigation.
It is alleged that Ahsan Labib's involvement was found in the beating to death of Shamim Mollah, the former organizing secretary of JU Chhatra League and a student of 39th batch.
He was seen on video of the Wednesday night beating them.
Shamim Molla died in Savar's Gano Swasthyo Hospital the night after the beating. Five members of the student body, including two students of the university, have been identified through video footage as taking part in the brutality.
