Kejriwal to quit as chief minister in a couple of days
Delhi Chief Minister and India's leading opposition politician Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said he will quit after a couple of days and would demand early assembly polls in Delhi as he vowed not to sit in the Chief Minister's chair till people give him a "certificate of honesty".
Kejriwal, who was released on bail given by the Supreme Court on Friday after being in jail for about six months on Friday in the excise policy corruption case, said "I will only sit on CM's chair after people give me a certificate of honesty. Want to give 'agnipariksha' after coming out of jail."
"I will become chief minister, (Manish) Sisodia deputy CM only when people say we are honest," the convenor of Aam Aadmi Party told the workers in New Delhi.
Alleging the BJP tried to prove him corrupt, Kejriwal said the saffron party cannot provide good schools and free electricity to people because they are corrupt. "We are honest," he asserted.
Saying the trial in the excise policy case would go on for long, the Delhi chief minister said he wanted to ask the people of Delhi whether he is honest or guilty.
