Good effective laws cannot be enacted by serving someone's personal interests. While enacting a law, the lawmakers should keep the interest of the country’s citizens or common people in mind. Laws have to be people-friendly.

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haque came up with the observation while addressing as the chief guest at a workshop on the finalisation of the draft of the Annual Performance Agreement (APA) 2024-25 of the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division at the law ministry in the Secretariat on Sunday (May 5).

He said if laws can be enacted to serve the interest of the people, the ideals of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be realised.

Emphasising on increasing the efficiency in enacting quality laws, Minister Anisul Haque said, “Local and foreign training should be arranged to increase the efficiency of the legislative officers. Besides, we have to focus on the formation of the Legislative Cadre Service.”

Urging the officials to work sincerely to achieve the targets of the annual performance agreement, Anisul Haque said, "The ‘Laws Bangladesh’ is a very people-friendly venture of the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division. Through this, the people can instantly see all the laws in force in Bangladesh. Now, the people will be greatly benefited ifan online based 'Rules of Bangladesh' can be compiled including all SROs and other regulations issued in Bangladesh since 1972, using the lessons learnt while compiling the ‘Laws of Bangladesh’. It must be made very soon.”
