Low pressure over Bay of Bengal may intensify
The deep depression over east-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal is remaining over the same area after moving slightly north-northeastward.
It can be more concentrated, according to the Meteorological Office report on Saturday morning (May 25).
The depression was located 635km southwest of Chattogram seaport, 570km southwest of Cox's Bazar, 605km south of Mongla seaport and 565km south of Payra seaport by 6:00am on Saturday (May 25). It may move further northeast and intensify.
Meteorologist Md Bazlur Rashid said the sustained maximum wind speed is 50 kmph within 48 km of the deep depression center, increasing to 60 kmph in the form of gusty winds. Oceans are rough in the vicinity of deep depressions.
The Meteorological Office has asked Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports to display remote warning signal number 1 due to low pressure.
Besides, fishing boats and trawlers operating in North Bay of Bengal and deep sea have been asked to move cautiously near the coast till further instructions. It is also advised not to go to the deep sea.
