Mahmudullah Riyad bids farewell to international cricket
Mahmudullah Riyad has announced his retirement from international cricket.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday (March 12), he announced his retirement from one-day cricket.
In his Facebook post, he wrote, "All praise is due to Almighty Allah. I have decided to retire from international cricket."
He expressed his gratitude to his teammates, coaches and especially his fans, saying, "I would like to thank all my teammates, coaches and especially my fans, who have always supported me."
Highlighting the contribution of his family throughout his career, Mahmudullah said, "A big thank you to my parents, in-laws, especially my father-in-law and most importantly, my brother Emdad Ullah, who has been by my side since childhood, as my coach and mentor."
Expressing gratitude to his wife and children, he said, "Finally, thank you to my wife and children, who have always been by my side, supporting me in good and bad times. I know Rayed will miss me in the red-green jersey."
Accepting the decision to retire as part of reality, Mahmudullah said, "Everything doesn't always end perfectly, but you have to accept that and move forward. Peace... Alhamdulillah."
He wished his national team and the country's cricket all the best.
Mahmudullah made his debut in the national team against Sri Lanka in 2007. He last played for Bangladesh in the ICC Champions Trophy against New Zealand in Rawalpindi.
