Maliha Anjum, a student from Viqarunnisa Noon School and College, was unable to enter the center for the 2024 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination.

On Sunday morning, while going for the exam at Sabujbagh Government College Centre, she suddenly fell ill.

Maliha's guardians brought her to the examination center, but when her condition worsened, they quickly took her to Islami Bank Hospital Emergency. As the test had already started, Maliha was rushed back to the exam center with saline in her arm.

It is alleged that despite multiple attempts, Maliha and her guardians were not allowed to enter the college by the policemen at the gate. They were also barred from meeting the Principal.

Maliha's father, Salim Farooq, said that around 10:30 in the morning, they arrived at the center with their daughter. Maliha was suffering from low blood pressure, and their arrival at the exam center was delayed due to traffic jams caused by the rain.

He said, "Because of the traffic jam, several candidates arrived late at the center. Unfortunately, they were met with uncooperative behavior from police and security personnel. Maliha fell ill under these circumstances, prompting us to rush her to the hospital. After receiving initial treatment, we returned to the center just after 12.00pm, but were denied entry by the on-duty police and security personnel, and even prevented from meeting the principal."

Meanwhile, Maliha was seen sitting in front of the center for a long time in hostile weather with a needle-saline in her hand.

She said, "I didn't have the opportunity. I would have at least written down the name. The hospital also offered quick service for my test. Despite waiting at the gate until the exam's last hour, I still didn't get a chance."

When questioned, Dhaka Board Chairman Tapan Kumar Sarkar directed parents to consult the principal. Upon hearing this, the guardian, who had not had an opportunity to meet, stated that he is now investigating the issue.

In accordance with the Board of Education's examination procedures, special examinations are generally arranged for sick candidates with approval from the Board and relevant authorities.
