'Mango Special' train launched on Chapainawabganj-Dhaka route
With an aim to transport mangoes at a low cost, ‘Mango Special’ train has been launched on Chapainawabganj-Dhaka route.
Besides, separate wagons have been attached to Mango Special train for the transportation of sacrifice animals for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
Member of Parliament Abdul Odud inaugurated this train at Chapainawabganj rail station around 6pm on Monday (June 10).
Meanwhile, the train started its journey from Chapainawabganj with 1,805 kg of mangoes on the first day. However, the transportation of sacrificial animals will start from June 12 and continue till June 14.
According to railway sources, the train will arrive at Chapainawabganj station at 4pm with mangoes from Rahanpur station in the district every day and will start its journey from Chapainawabganj station to Dhaka at 6pm. The Mango Special train will stop at 14 stations en route. The train with the capacity to transport 43 metric tons of mangoes will reach Dhaka via the Padma Bridge.
It will cost Tk 1.47 for the transportation of per kg of mango from Chapainawabganj.
Apart from mangoes, the train can transport different agricultural products also. Besides, 20 cows can be transported in each wagon. The fare of a wagon is fixed at Tk 14,730.
