Market burnt down due to cigarette fire

A market at Bakalia in Chattogram city has caught fire. It is initially reported that the fire erupted from a cigarette fire.

The incident took place in front of the Medina Mosque under Bakalia police station around 12:30 am on Thursday (December 26). The fire caused huge damage.

It is learnt that two units from Lamar Bazar and Chandanpura fire stations reached the spot after receiving the news of the fire. Later, it was brought under control after two hours of effort.

Saiful Islam, Senior Station Officer of Lamar Bazar Fire Service, told the media that it is initially believed that the fire was caused by a cigarette. However, the extent of the damage caused by the fire has not been determined yet.
