Market inspections to continue to prevent hoarding
State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu said that market inspection will continue to stop unreasonable hoarding of dishonest traders.
After visiting Park Bazar in Tangail on Tuesday (March 19), he said, "Market surveillance will continue to stop manipulation of product prices and prevent anyone from hoarding unnecessarily."
He advised the retailers to keep the receipts of the products.
He also said that there is sufficient supply of daily commodities in the market. The price of essentials will gradually decrease once the producers, wholesalers and retailers are forced to abide by the rules, he hoped.
Prior to that, speaking as the chief guest in a views exchange meeting at the Tangail District Commissioner's conference room the state minister said, “In the future, the TCB products of each month will reach the previous month. To include the destitute who are really eligible for getting TCB products, the list is being updated with the help of public representatives.”
Referring to the announcement of handicrafts as Product of the Year for this year, he said, “Initiatives have been taken to develop handicrafts across the country. The Ministry of Commerce is working to ensure all kinds of facilities including training and financing for the development of the handicrafts sector.”
He called upon every deputy commissioner to play a key role in the development of handicrafts.
With Tangail Deputy Commissioner Md Kaisarul Islam in the chair, the meeting was also attended by State Minister for Education Begum Shamsunnahar as the special guest.
Former Minister of Agriculture Dr Md Abdur Razzak, MP Amanur Rahman Khan Rana, MP Abdul Latif Siddiqui, MP Khan Ahmed Shuvo, Zilla Parishad Chairman and District Awami League President Fazlur Rahman Khan Faruq, and Superintendent of Police Sarkar Mohammad Qaiser, among others, also addressed the views exchange meeting.
