Mass reception organised for new Cumilla mayor Tahsin Bahar

Tahsin Bahar Suchana, the newly elected mayor of Cumilla City Corporation (CCC), was accorded a public reception in front of Cumilla Metropolitan Awami League office on Sunday evening.

The venue turned into a sea of people as the councillors of 27 wards of CCC along with thousands of her supporters and common people thronged to congratulate her with bouquets of flowers.

Also, leaders and activists of various social, cultural, voluntary, professional organisations also attended the reception offering greetings with flowers. Lawmaker AKM Bahauddin Bahar, father of the newly elected mayor, metropolitan Awami League (AL) acting General Secretary Atiqullah Khokon, former deputy commissioner Omar Faruq and leaders and activists of the metropolitan AL were also present at the felicitation programme.

Tahsin Bahar thanked the people of the Cumilla city and sought cooperation of the city dwellers to implement the promises made before the election.

She said that she would work to resolve various problems including waterlogging and traffic congestion in the city.

Mentionable, Tahsin Bahar was elected mayor winning the CCC by-election held on March 9.
