Medical college lecturer suspended over shooting at student
Dr Raihan Sharif, a lecturer of the Community Medicine department at Shaheed M Mansur Ali Medical College and Hospital in Sirajganj has been suspended over shooting a student inside a classroom.
The medical college authorities took the decision on Wednesday following the directives of the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME).
An office order signed by the ministry’s admin wing deputy secretary Dur-Re-Shahwas said this on Wednesday.
This information was revealed in a notification signed by Dur-Re Shahwaz, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, by order of the President, at around 11:30 am on Wednesday (March 6).
'Dr. Md Raihan Sharif (213892), Lecturer (Community Medicine), Shaheed M Mansoor Ali Medical College, Sirajganj, was suspended after he was arrested by law enforcement agencies for criminal offences. During the suspension, he will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per the rules. This order will be effective immediately in public interest,' the notification said.
On Monday, a student named Arafat Amin Tomal – a third-year student of the college’s MBBS programme – was shot in the leg as Shareef was showing off a pistol during an oral exam.
