Meghna trawler capsize: 2 more bodies recovered, 6 still missing
Bodies of two more persons have been recovered today (March 23) from Meghna River at Bhairab of Kishoreganj who were on the trawler that capsized after being hit by a bulkhead on Friday evening.
The bodies were recovered around 1:30pm. They are the missing constable's wife Mousumi and her daughter Mahmuda.
So far, three bodies have been recovered while six others are still missing, said Bhairab Fire Service Station Officer Azizul Haque Rajan.
He said that the diving team is doing their best to find the missing people. Seven divers from the fire service and BIWTA are continuing their efforts. The boat has already been found. Rescue efforts are underway.
Four teams of Naval Police, BIWTA, Red Crescent and Fire Service are taking part in the rescue mission, this fire service official said.
Earlier on Friday evening, a passenger trawler en route to Bhairab from Ashuganj was hit by a bulkhead in the Meghna River near Bhairab. At this time, some passengers swam to the shore. Following the incident, local fishermen recovered the body of a passenger named Subarna Begum
