Met office predicts storm at 60 km/h amid heat alert
As the intense heat persists for three consecutive days, a countrywide heat alert remains in effect. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued a prediction of a storm with speeds of 60 km per hour across several areas in the northeastern region of the country.
According to a bulletin released for the river port on Sunday, gusty or gale force winds are expected to occur in various areas of Sylhet from the west and north-west between 1.00pm onwards, with speeds ranging from 45 to 60 km per hour. During this period, rainfall and thunderstorms are also anticipated. River ports in these regions have been instructed to display warning signal number 1.
The warning also indicates the possibility of temporary rain or thundershowers in two locations within the Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions. Additionally, scattered hail is expected in some areas. In contrast, the weather in other parts of the country is forecasted to remain predominantly dry with partly cloudy skies.
Furthermore, the Meteorological Office has indicated that the ongoing heat wave is likely to persist, with day and night temperatures remaining relatively constant across the country. Excessive water vapor may lead to discomfort. Additionally, there is no significant likelihood of weather conditions changing over the next five days.
