Miraz returns to Bangladesh T20 side
All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has returned to Bangladesh’s T20 squad for the upcoming three-match series against Pakistan, replacing injured opener Soumya Sarkar.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the change in a statement issued on Thursday (May 22).
Soumya, who was included in the squad for the recent UAE series, missed all matches due to a persistent back injury. “After assessment and treatment, we’ve determined that he needs at least 10-12 days more to recover. Unfortunately, he won’t be fit in time for the T20 matches in Pakistan,” national team physio Bayjedul Islam said.
Miraz, currently in Pakistan playing for Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), will join the national team in Lahore ahead of the series. The 26-year-old all-rounder has so far played 29 T20 internationals for Bangladesh.
The three-match T20 series between Bangladesh and Pakistan is set to begin on May 28, with the second and third matches scheduled for May 30 and June 1, respectively. After a brief training stint in the UAE, the Bangladesh squad is expected to depart for Pakistan on May 25.
