Mohsena Begum appointed first woman DG of BFRI

Mohosena Begum Tanu has been appointed as the director general of the Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute (BFRI) in Mymensingh.

Prior to this appointment, she was serving as a director (research and planning) at the institute, says a notification issued on Sunday June (23).

According to the notification, she is the first female DG of the institute.

Dr Tanu obtained her bachelor's and master's degrees in Fisheries Science from Bangladesh Agricultural University. Subsequently, she pursued her PhD and postdoctoral studies in Fisheries Science from Nagasaki University in Japan.

This talented scientist started her career at the Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute as a scientific officer in 1991. She has built a reputation for serving in various significant positions with exceptional efficiency.
