Monitoring strengthened to prevent cattle smuggling: Livestock minister
Fisheries and Livestock Minister Md Abdur Rahman has said that strict monitoring is being done to ensure that cows cannot enter the country illegally through the border before the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
Targeting the Eid-ul-Azha, some people have been allegedly smuggling cows into the country to discourage local farmers, he said.
“The government is taking a very strict stand in this regard and the home minister will also be requested to take appropriate action on the matter,” the minister said while addressing a programme organized on the occasion of World Dairy Day 2024 at Sher Bangla Agricultural University in the capital on Sunday (June 2).
The minister said the country's farmers have no reason to worry. The fisheries and livestock ministry will be in overall supervision so that everyone can celebrate Eid well.
