Anti-quota movement
Morning-evening total blockade across country on Wednesday
The protesting students have declared a nationwide blockade, set to take place from morning to evening, to demand the cancellation of the quota system. They have urged students across the country to participate in the 'Bangla Blockade' by obstructing key roadways, sea routes, and railways starting at 10.00 am on Wednesday (July 10).
The announcement of this program was made at a press conference held in front of the Dhaka University library on Tuesday (July 9), at around 6:30 pm.
Dhaka University student Nahid Islam, the coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, said in the press conference that all highways, waterways and railways across the country will be covered by the blockade.
The coordinators informed reporters that they have been in mass communication with students from various parts of the country. They seek a written assurance from the government's executive department regarding quota reform, in addition to the court order. As a result, they have decided to observe the blockade on Wednesday morning and evening.
