Mother, two children die due to electrocution in Barishal

Three members of a same family died due to electrocution at Bakerganj upazila in Barishal.

The incident took place at Dhalmara village under Niamati union of the upazila on Saturday (April 27) noon.

The deceased have been identified as Sonia Akhtar (32), her daughter Sabrina (9) and son Salman (4).

Bakerganj police station Officer-in-Charge Abzal Hossain said, “Child Salman touched a lemon tree while playing in front of the house. A torn electric wire fell upon the tree. Sister Sabrina went to rescue Salman after he touched the tree. At this time, she also was electrified. Later, mother Sonia Akhter also died of electrocution while trying to rescue her two children.”
