MP Anar Murder: Arrest warrant issued against Nepal fugitive Siam
A Dhaka court has issued an arrest warrant against Siam Hossain, one of the main suspects in the murder case of Jhenaidah-4 Constituency MP Anwarul Azim Anar, who was killed in Kolkata.
Judge Md Mahbubul Haque of the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka issued this order on Monday (June 3) in response to an application filed by the Detective Police (DB).
SI Jalal Uddin, the General Registration Officer at the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station in Dhaka Court, has confirmed the matter.
Siam Hossain is a resident of Borhanuddin Police Station of Bhola district. He is a close associate of Akhtaruzzaman Shahin, the mastermind behind MP Anar's murder. During the investigation, it was discovered by the police that Siam was also in India at the time of the murder. The investigation agency has since confirmed that Siam fled to Nepal after committing the crime.
Reliable sources have stated that the warrant was issued to expedite Siam's return. Once the arrest warrant is transmitted to the Nepalese authorities via Interpol, it is expected to simplify the process of bringing Siam back for legal proceedings.
In this case, Amanullah Aman alias Shimul Bhuiyan alias Mahmud Hasan Shimul, Shilosti Rahman and Faisal Ali alias Saji alias Tanvir Bhuiyan are currently in the custody of the Detective Branch (DB) undergoing their second round of five-day remand.
On May 22, Anar's daughter, Mumtarin Ferdous Dorin, filed a case at the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station in the capital, reporting her father as missing and abducted.
