MP Anar Murder Case: Investigating officer transferred
Shahidur Rahman, the additional deputy commissioner of Wari Zone in the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Branch (DB) and a detective involved in the murder case of Jhenaidah-4 member of parliament Anwarul Azim Anar, has been transferred to Barishal.
According to a notification issued by the police headquarters on Sunday (2 June), Shahidur Rahman has been transferred to Barishal to assume the role of additional superintendent of police.
Shahidur Rahman, currently in Nepal with the DB team, is investigating the murder of MP Anar. He was also part of the DB team that conducted investigations in India.
The precise motive for his transfer remains unclear. However, as per information from the police headquarters, it is classified as a regular transfer.
According to a DB official speaking on condition of anonymity, the transfer list had been prepared long ago. Perhaps the list was signed by the police chief on Sunday.
However, according to another source, ADC Shahidur hails from the constituency of MP Anar. This could potentially be the reason behind his transfer.
As per the notification released by the police headquarters on Sunday, a total of 11 additional superintendents of police, including Shahidur, have been transferred. Additionally, 12 Assistant Superintendents of Police have been relocated in the same order by the Police Headquarters.
