MP Anar murder: Suspects Siam, Jihad held in Nepal
Nepal police have arrested suspects Siam and Jihad, who disposed of parts of the body of Jhenaidah-4 MP Md Anwarul Azim Anar in several places after he had been brutally murdered in a flat in Kolkata.
Detective Branch (DB) Chief Harun-Or-Rashid, also additional commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said this while talking to reporters at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon upon his return from Nepal.
Calling Nepal a route for the criminals to go into hiding after committing crimes, Harun claimed that arrested Siam also went to Nepal one and a half months ago.
He said many people (criminals) go to Kathmandu from Bangladesh or even to Kathmandu from Delhi. The criminals go and stay there as they use it as a route.
Akhtaruzzaman Shaheen, one of the masterminds of Anar's murder went to Delhi from Dhaka and to Kathmandu from Delhi. Siam who went to Kathmandu a month and a half ago, reports UNB, quoting the DB chief.
“We gathered several pieces of information and data and talked to Kathmandu police officers of several ranks after going there,” he said.
"We told them (Nepal police) that some criminals take people hostage in Bangladesh and bring money here. You have to take care of these things a little,” he said.
The Nepal police helped them (DB) with various information. From now on, criminals who go to Kathmandu and create a safe home will not be able to do that. That's the message they got, Harun informed.
On June 1, a four-member DB team headed by Harun went to Nepal to probe the murder of MP Anar.
On May 26, a three-member DB team led by its chief also went to Kolkata to unearth the mystery behind the murder.
MP Anar went to Kolkata on May 11 for medical treatment and remained untraced since May 14.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on May 22 said the MP was brutally killed at a flat in New Town, near Kolkata.
A case was filed on May 22 following the death of MP Anar.
