MP Azad dismissed from party post
Abul Kalam Azad, lawmaker from Cumilla-4 (Debidwar) constituency, has been dismissed from the post of Party Organizing Secretary of Cumilla North District Awami League and served a show cause notice to reply within 15 days, according to a press release signed by Awami League Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua on Wednesday (March 13).
According to the release, the show cause notice said that on the occasion of historical March 7, after a discussion meeting organised by Cumilla North District Awami League, District Awami League President Ruhul Amin's car was attacked on your (MP Azad) order. A complaint has been submitted to the central office in this regard.
District Awami League office secretary Saiful Islam Rajib and several others were seriously injured in that attack. In this incident, you (MP Azad) have been relieved from the post of organisational secretary of the district according to party instructions, said the show cause notice.
In such a situation, you are directed to send a written reply to the AL president within the next 15 days with an explanation as to why you will not be expelled from the party for being involved in activities against the ideals, discipline and interests of the party.
Cumilla North District Awami League President Md Ruhul Amin confirmed the news.
