Muktijoddha Prajanma League procession at National Memorial, 3 detained
A group of people holding red flags brought out a procession in support of the Awami League at the National Memorial in Savar on Independence Day and National Day.
Police detained three people during this time. Police said they were leaders and activists of the Muktijoddha Prajanma League.
They brought out the procession holding red flags on their way back after paying homage at the martyr's altar of the National Memorial around 11am on Wednesday (March 26). During this time, they were heard chanting various slogans in support of the Awami League from the procession.
At that time, many people present at the National Memorial premises chased them and beat some of them. Later, the police detained three people from the spot.
Police said that the detainees are leaders and activists of Muktijoddha Projanmo League.
The detainees are General Secretary of Muktijoddha Sangsad Sontan Command central committee Selim Reza (47), Organising Secretary of Muktijoddha Sangsad Sontan Command central committee Md Shahidul Islam (50), and Md Sohel Parvez (41) of Kalma area of Ashulia.
In a WhatsApp message, Additional Superintendent of Police of Dhaka District Police Shahinur Kabir said that at approximately 11am, 5/6 people tried to create instability on Independence Day by raising provocative slogans at the National Memorial. They were arrested by Ashulia Police Station on this charge.
