Munshiganj road mishap kills 3

Three people from the same family and two others were injured in a road accident at Gazaria upazila in Munshiganj.

The accident happened in front of Manabe Water Park in Baushia area of the upazila around 1:30am on Friday (May 3).

The deceased have been identified as Alamgir Hossain (50), son of Hossain Ali Bepari from Kadra village of Shahrasti upazila of Chandpur, his younger son Zahirul Islam (30) and his maternal aunt Rahela Begum (50).

The injured are Alamgir Hossain's elder son Nazrul Islam (35) and private car driver Ibrahim Khalil Sujan (32). The injured were treated at the Upazila Health Complex.

In this regard, Gazaria highway police outpost in-charge Md Humayun Kabir said, “A covered van hit the private car from behind in front of the Baushia Manabe Water Park on the Gazaria section of the Dhaka-Chattogram highway. The car then fell into a roadside ditch, killing three passengers on the spot. Fire service personnel rescued two injured people and sent them to Upazila Health Complex.”

He said that the bodies are currently in the police outpost. Attempts are being made to identify the covered van. Legal action is underway.
