Mustafiz stars in Chennai Super Kings' win
In the opening match of the 17th edition of the IPL, Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman made an impact on the field for Chennai Super Kings on Friday. His devastating bowling helped Chennai to win the match by 6 wickets against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Mustafiz captured 4 wickets for 29 runs in his 4 overs. The victims are - Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, Cameron Green and Rajat Patidar. However, Bengaluru managed to score 173 runs in 20 overs.
Chasing a target of 174, Chennai got off to a flying start. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed for 15 off 15 balls. Rachin Ravindra played an innings of 37 runs off 15 balls. Then Ajinkya Rahane and Darrell Mitchell took the team a long way. Rahane scored 27 off 19 balls and Mitchell scored 22 runs off 18 balls. Cameron Green put pressure on Chennai by capturing these two set batters in two consecutive overs.
From there, Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube took the team to victory with a partnership of 66 runs off 37 balls. Jadeja remained unbeaten on 25 off 17 balls while Dube was not out on 34 off 28 balls. Mustafiz has been adjudged Man of the Match for his excellent bowling.
