Police have arrested Riazul Islam Masum, the former general secretary of the Chhatra League's Natore district unit, who was wanted in seven cases, including murder. Masum was arrested on Thursday night (January 16), from the Rooppur area in Pabna. He had been on the run since August 5. local residents spotted him in the Rooppur area and informed the police. on information, officers from Natore Sadar Police Station quickly apprehended him. Mahabur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Natore Sadar Police Station, confirmed this. He said, "Masum faces charges in several cases, including attacks on student protesters, torture, and murder."

হত্যাসহ ৭টি মামলার পলাতক আসামি ছাত্রলীগের নাটোর জেলা শাখার সাবেক সাধারণ সম্পাদক রিয়াজুল ইসলাম মাসুমকে গ্রেপ্তার করেছে পুলিশ। বৃহস্পতিবার (১৬ জানুয়ারি) রাতে পাবনার রুপপুর এলাকা থেকে তাকে গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়। এ বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করে নাটোর সদর থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) মাহাবুর রহমান জানান, ৫ আগস্টের পর আত্মগোপনে চলে যায় মাসুম। বৃহস্পতিবার সন্ধ্যার দিকে রুপপুর এলাকায় মাসুমকে ঘোরাফেরা করতে দেখেন নাটোরের কিছু লোকজন। তারা সদর থানায় খবর দিলে পুলিশ গিয়ে তাকে গ্রেপ্তার করে। তিনি আরও জানান, এছাড়া মাসুমের বিরুদ্ধে ছাত্র আন্দোলনে ছাত্র জনতার ওপর হামলা, নির্যাতন ও হত্যাসহ ৭টি মামলা রয়েছে।
