NCP leader calls on Mahfuz and Asif to resign from interim govt
Tajnuva Zabeen, Joint Convener of the National Citizens Party (NCP), has called on Mahfuz Alam and Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan to resign from the advisory council of the interim government.
On Thursday (May 8), Tajnuva made the call in a post from her verified Facebook account, stating, "Speaking not as an NCP member but as an ordinary citizen before July—I believe Mahfuz and Asif should step down from the government and return to the streets to stand with the people."
She further wrote, "You no longer belong there. The government you are a part of is no longer the same revolutionary government. Step down and reassure the people. Stay accountable to the martyrs of July."
Expressing deep emotion, Tajnuva added, "I’m heartbroken. I can only imagine how the injured and the families of the martyrs must feel, watching the accused walk free with arrogance."
In the concluding part of her post, she emphasized, "I believe we need to unite on the streets again on the issue of the Awami League. July is not over—it's still ongoing."
Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan currently oversees the Ministry of Youth and Sports as well as the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives. Mahfuz Alam is in charge of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
