West Bengal is in turmoil again. No one could have imagined such an undesirable situation. The Supreme Court has cancelled the entire panel for recruitment in the 2016 SSC (School Service Commission).

The court's verdict said that the entire process was rigged. Even the recruitment process has no credibility. Along with this, the bench of Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar cancelled nearly 26,000 jobs (actually 25,752) in the state and said that a new recruitment process will have to be started within three months.

The Supreme Court said that those who left other government jobs and joined school jobs through the 2016 SSC can return to their old jobs if they want.

The verdict said that it was not possible to select the eligible and ineligible. Those who were appointed through the 2016 SSC will be able to apply for the eligibility test in the new recruitment process.

Earlier, the court had postponed the announcement of the verdict after completing the hearing of this case in February. It was informed on Wednesday that the bench of the Chief Justice will announce the verdict in this case at 10:30am on Thursday. The verdict was announced in compliance with that deadline.

Mentionable, there were allegations of corruption in the recruitment of teachers and non-teaching staff for the 2016 SSC. After hearing the matter, the Kolkata High Court had cancelled the entire recruitment process of 2016. As a result, 25,753 people lost their jobs.

The West Bengal government approached the Supreme Court challenging this verdict. The hearing of this case in the top court concluded on February 10. The list released by the Supreme Court on Wednesday said that the verdict in the 26,000 job-cancellation case would be announced on Thursday morning. The verdict was announced accordingly.

On the other hand, the West Bengal government has taken immediate action after the Supreme Court's order to cancel 26,000 jobs. The state education department is holding an emergency meeting on the call of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. According to sources, the Trinamool Congress government has been hit hard by the Supreme Court's verdict a year before the assembly elections.

On the other hand, those who actually got jobs based on their qualifications are also victims of this verdict.
