New transmission line of Rooppur power plant launched, PGCB warning in 3 districts
Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Limited (PGCB) has completed the construction of 89.92 km long 400 KV single circuit transmission line from Rooppur Nuclear Power Station in Pabna to 400/230 KV grid substation in Bogura.
The line was launched on a trial basis at 11:00am on Tuesday (April 30). This new electricity line will be open all the time, says a notification issued by the PGCB.
The notification warned the local residents to refrain from all kinds of risky activities including climbing the tower of the newly constructed transmission line, tying cattle, drying clothes by tying ropes on the tower, and planting trees under and beside the line. It also asked to maintain a safe distance (23 meters on either side) from the transmission line.
The areas covered by the new power line include Pakshi, Salimpur and Muladuli unions of Ishwardi upazila in Pabna; Nazirpur of Gurdaspur upazila of Natore, Chamari, Kalam, Chowgram and Ramanand Khajura of Singra upazila; Gopalpur, Nagar, Majhgaon and Baraigram unions of Baraigram upazila, Jamgram union of Kahalu upazila and Sadar and Bhatgram of Nandigram upazila of Bogura.
The notification also said that the PGCB authorities will not be responsible if anyone suffers any accident due to contact with the high voltage transmission line or towers.
