NINMAS's new director Dr Fazlul Bari

Prof. Dr Fazlul Bari has been appointed as the new director of the National Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (NINMAS), Dhaka. He was appointed as the Director of Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC) on 18 March 2025 by its Chairman Dr. Kamrul Huda.

All the doctors, officials and employees of NINMAS welcomed him with flowers. The newly appointed director pledged to work together with everyone. He also sought the cooperation of all scientists and doctors to make NINMAS a "World Excellence Center" by improving the research and service of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission, including NINMAS. In his speech, he urged everyone to be prepared to face any situation inspired by the welfare of the country and humanity.

It may be mentioned that Prof. Dr. A.K. M. Fazlul Bari started his professional career after passing the BCS Health Cadre and joined the National Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences-NINMAS under the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission as an Assistant Professor in 2005. He is a professor and head of the department of thyroid. He is also a life member of the Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) and an Honorary Fellow of WAIM, Delhi. He is also the President of the Bangladesh Society of Doppler Ultrasound (BSDU). Scientific Secretary of the Bangladesh Society of Ultrasound (BSU), Joint Secretary of the Bangladesh Thyroid Society (BTS), an Executive Member of the Society of Nuclear Medicine, Bangladesh (SNB), and Advisor to the Central Committee of the Medicine Club. He is also the author of Bangladesh's first textbook on ultrasound, Ultrasound & Color Doppler in Medical Science. His research papers have been published in national dailies, newspapers and magazines. Prof. Dr. Bari has received many awards nationally and internationally including the Bangabir Osmani Medal in 2017 and the International Gold Medal Award in 2022. She was also awarded the Bronze Medal at the 13th AFSUMB Conference held in South Korea in 2017. He is also known for his research work in the country and abroad.

He established Bangladesh Institute of Thyroid Medicine and Imaging Research (BITMIR) for ultrasound education and research.
