He said: “No decision has been taken yet on the movement of trains. It's not about running the trains, it's about safety." "Decision will be taken after analyzing the overall situation and consultation with the ministers, secretaries and all concerned,” he told private news agency UNB. Short-distance passenger trains were supposed to run from today, but considering the people’s safety, the decision was changed and the train movement remained suspended.

দেশের চলমান পরিস্থিতিতে কবে থেকে ট্রেন চলাচল শুরু হবে সে বিষয়ে এখনও কোনো সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়নি বলে জানিয়েছেন বাংলাদেশ রেলওয়ের মহাপরিচালক সরদার সাহাদাত আলী। বৃহস্পতিবার (২৫ জুলাই) গণমাধ্যমকে এ তথ্য জানান তিনি। সাহাদাত আলী বলেন, ‘ট্রেন চলাচলের বিষয়ে এখনও সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়নি। ট্রেন চলাচল চালু রাখা কোনো বিষয় না, বিষয়টি হচ্ছে এর নিরাপত্তা। সার্বিক পরিস্থিতি বিশ্লেষণ করে মন্ত্রী, সচিব এবং সংশ্লিষ্ট সবার সঙ্গে আলোচনা করে কবে থেকে ট্রেন চলবে সেই সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হবে।’ উল্লেখ্য,বৃহস্পতিবার (২৫ জুলাই) থেকে স্বল্প দূরত্বের যাত্রীবাহী ট্রেনগুলো চলাচল শুরুর কথা থাকলেও নিরাপত্তার কথা বিবেচনা করে সিদ্ধান্ত পরিবর্তন করে ট্রেন চলাচল বন্ধ রাখা হয়েছে।
