No other country has reduced extreme poverty so quickly: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that no country in the world has been able to reduce the rate of extreme poverty as fast as Bangladesh.

She said this at the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected mayors of Cumilla and Mymensingh City Corporation, councilors of Mymensingh City Corporation and elected chairmen of Kurigram, Thakurgaon, Sirajganj, Brahmanbaria and Habiganj Zilla Parishads at the Prime Minister's Office on Thursday morning (April 4).

Commenting that Awami League always works with the goal of people's welfare and development, the PM said: "First of all, what is needed is to return the voting rights of the people to the hands of the people. Establishing democratic governance. Only when the Awami League formed the government, the people of this country got at least that the government works as a servant of the people. That is why the development of Bangladesh has become possible."
