Nusraat Faria released from jail

Actress Nusraat Faria has been freed on bail from Kashimpur Women's Central Jail in Gazipur.

After her release at 3:28pm on Tuesday, she left for Dhaka with her relatives, Senior Jail Superintendent Kawalin Nahar said.

Earlier in the day, a Dhaka court granted bail to Nusraat, who was sent to jail on Monday in connection with an attempted murder case, triggering widespread criticism from various quarters.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Mostafijur Rahman issued the order on Tuesday morning.

Earlier on Monday, Metropolitan Magistrate Naznin Akter ordered Nusraat to be sent to ja and set 22 May for the hearing of the bail petition.

Nusraat was detained by immigration police at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday as she attempted to travel to Thailand.
