Obaidul Quader to sit with teachers Thursday
- Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said that he will sit in a meeting with the leaders of Bangladesh University Teachers Association Federation on Thursday (July 4), in a bid to resolve the issue of the ongoing strike of public university teachers across the country.
Professor Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan, secretary general of the Federation and President of the Dhaka University Teachers' Association, informed this on Wednesday (July 3).
Meanwhile, the indefinite strike of public university teachers is going on for the third consecutive day on Wednesday (July 3) demanding cancellation of their inclusion in the Prattay pension scheme.
Bhuiyan said the time of the Thursday meeting is yet to be fixed.
Asked whether the movement will continue, he said, they will not return to work until their demands are met.
Last Monday (July 1), university teachers started an indefinite strike to protest against thiuer inclusion in Pratyaya scheme.
As part of this strike, all types of academic activities including regular classes and examinations, and evening professional online and offline programmes are suspended in public universities of the country.
