One arrested with 90,000 dirham at Shah Amant
National Security Intelligence (NSI) and Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department (CIID) arrested a person named Qaiser Hamid with 90,000 dirhams at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram.
He was detained after questioning while crossing the international anti-hijacking gate of the airport terminal on Friday (April 26) evening.
He was supposed to go to Sharjah on an Air Arabia flight.
Qaiser's home is at Boalkhali in Chattogram. Coins worth Tk 27 lakh were recovered from him, said Shah Amanat Airport Director Group Captain Taslim Ahmed.
According to the Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation, a case against Qaiser under Money Laundering Act is under process at Patenga Model Police Station.
Mentionable, according to the foreign exchange policy, a passenger can take a maximum of $12,000 or any other foreign currency of its equivalent value abroad in a year.
