Only local cattle to be used as sacrificial animals this year: Livestock minister

Fisheries and Livestock Minister Md Abdur Rahman has said that the animals that will be sacrificed during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha will be locally produced animals.

“There is a demand of 1.07 crore animals for sacrifice in the country, while there are about 13 crore animals ready for sacrifice, which is much more than the demand,” he said while addressing the inaugural session of the "Annual Research Planning Workshop-2024" as the chief guest, organized by Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI) at Savar on Sunday (June 9).that

Abdur Rahman also said, "We have more preparation than the target level.”

He said there are complaints that some cows are entering the country in the dark of night, but the border guarding forces are continuing their efforts. Those who are smuggling animals into the country are using illegal routes.
