Operation underway at that house in Netrokona
The police are currently conducting a raid on a house in the Vasapara area of Kailati Union, Netrokona Sadar Upazila. The house was surrounded by the police due to suspicions of being a militant hideout.
Around 9:00 am on Sunday, a specialized team comprising the Counter-Terrorism, Anti-Terrorism, and SWAT units of the police initiated a raid on the house. Superintendent of Police Sanwar Hossain, an expert in bomb disposal from the Anti-Terrorism Unit, is leading the operation.
Sanwar Hossain informed the media that the house served as a training center for militants, and they are confident about this assessment. During the raid, several specialized devices were discovered, some of which were previously found during a 2017 raid on a militant hideout in Mohammadpur. Additionally, there is a possibility of the presence of explosive materials.
Police allege the presence of weapons and bombs intended for militant training in that house.
Based on this information, the Netrakona Sadar police station surrounded the house around 1:00 pm on Saturday, according to the police. Subsequently, they conducted a raid and recovered some training equipment.
Yesterday evening, Police Superintendent of Netrakona Md Faiz Ahmed confirmed this information to reporters. Regarding the matter, he stated, "Based on intelligence information, the police conducted a raid on the house on Saturday afternoon. During the operation, a foreign pistol, 17 bullets, a significant quantity of toy pistols, two walkie-talkies, a handcuff, and a bag containing Jihadi books were discovered in one of the rooms."
The police officer also said, "The owner of the house is retired engineer Professor Abdul Mannan. There are suspicions that militants have rented the house, located in a secluded part of the village, to conduct their activities."
